How to protect your Intellectual Property
Natalie Watzke und Maria Carola Colombo
SVH
In this 2-hour workshop, we will introduce you to the topic of intellectual property (IP) and its protective rights such as patents, trademarks and others. We will explain the differences between scientific discoveries and inventions, shed light on legal frameworks such as the German employee invention Act and patent law, move along the patenting process and show examples of exploitation of IP. We will also address software-patents and how the patenting landscape is evolving in the area of computer-implemented inventions. In the practical part we will look at the participants’ own work and deduct conclusions on potential IP protection from it.
